Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also sings. She's the smallest woman and the first to receive a British House of Commons shield. Anoushka is the emerging star of Indian sitar. She is the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. The first few years of her life were spent in London as well as New Delhi. She gave her debut performance in New Delhi at the tender age of thirteen. She then moved in Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha continues to have a bright career in recording and performing despite being young. She has been accompanying her father on stage for several years. Her debut self-titled album Anourag in 1998. The following year, she released the Grammy nominated Live at Carnegie Hall. Her career on stage is broad as she's appeared in all of the world's major venues. Anoushka isn't just a musician. In 2002, she released a book entitled Bapi The love of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which pays special respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. She's also appeared in. In 2003's film Dance Like a Man, where she portrayed the role of a Bharat dancer in the form of a young girl. Anoushka's career is still developing and she'll continue to accomplish many amazing things in the coming years. Anoushka Shakar, who was born in England spent a large part of her time between London Delhi. When she moved to California she completed the high school. From the age of nine she began her studies in music under her father, who made her first on the sitar four years later at his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Anoushka was a part of her father on his worldwide tour, gained an incredible quantity of knowledge. As a teenager, she performed in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. The House of Commons Shield was presented to her from the British Parliament as the pre-eminent Asian Arts musician. She is the sole female and the youngest winner of this award.
